The real selling point here is the acting. Both Scarlett Johansen and Adam Driver are incredibly moving, and it is impossible to pick a side—much like a child choosing a parent in the aftermath of a divorce (an intentional choice).
This movie tells a story that is too real for many: watching two great people decend into monsters can be hard to watch. But the film manages to end on a hopeful note (if not uplifting).
