An adventure on the high seas of fantastical land. This is what I wanted when I entered this book however, it was less swashbuckling adventures and more political intrigue and I did not hate it. Red Wolf Conspiracy tells the story of the voyage of a girl who is supposed to bring peace between two warring empires through marriage, but not everything is not what it seems. Conspiracy is afoot and it is up to the would-be bride, a cursed tarboy, a stowaway, and a very brave rat to stop it. The story was interesting with a cool world, magic, characters however the story stumbles in the execution.
This story had a lot of potential with an interesting plot with many moving pieces, characters that are very likeable and decently fleshed out, and world that is fun. The major problem I had with the book was that it was told in a very disjointed manner that throws off the pacing. This leads for the prose to be very choppy and there were several times that I got confused about what just happened when I was reading. This made the experience less enjoyable. Overall, I think the story has potential and I do plan on continuing the story, but it isn’t high priority on my tbr.

I am new podcaster who has been enjoying the fantasy genre for many, many… many years. I will read most any fantasy book but high and steampunk are my favorite subgenres.
